This term, we began our Mini-beast topic. We started with our Ugly Bug Ball, where we did lots of mini-beast related activities including decorating a biscuit with a mini-beast. Following this we focused on caterpillars/ butterflies with the arrival of the baby caterpillars in class, spiders and ladybirds. We have been learning lots of facts about mini-beasts, and about their life-cycles, making our own books about the life cycle of a butterfly following each stage of our caterpillars..
We have begun discussing growing through stories. We have planted our own Tomatoes and sunflowers.
In maths we have been ordering and counting from 0-20, We practised our number recognition,
We have been discussing the names and properties of 2d shapes
We have read a range of fiction, non-fiction and poems about mini-beasts including Aaargh Spider! the very Lazy Ladybird, The hungry caterpillar and Norman the slug with the silly shell. .
Phonics (reading and writing)
In phonics we continued learning new rhymes which we have shared with you at our book niks.
We have also started to separate sounds in cvc words and in names of objects.
In PE our focus was moving in a variety of ways and practising for sports day.
In PSHE we explored friendships and relationships. We also enjoyed celebrating the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, making crowns, dressing up and enjoying a royal wedding lunch and wedding cake.
