Autumn learning

WC: 07.12.15

Maths: This week we will be starting our work on statistics, interpreting ad presenting data in bar and line graphs.

English: We will be writing our own information texts this week.

WC 30.11.15

Maths: We will be starting our work on shape this week, investigating their properties, including lines of symmetry. 

English: This week we will be continuing our work on information texts, looking in particular at the language.

WC 23.11.15

Maths: This week we will be investigating angles.

English: We will begin looking at the features of information texts.

WC 16.11.15

Maths: This week will be beginning our work on fractions and learning to identify equivalent fractions.

English: This week, we will be writing our own instruction texts.

Maths: We will be converting between different unit of measure. We will then begin to look at telling the time on both analogue and digital clocks.

English: This week, we will be continuing to explore the features of instructions. We will then begin to plan our own instructions.

Maths: In Maths, we will be learning to accurately measure length and weight.

English: In English, we will begin looking at the features of instructional texts.

Maths: This week, we will begin to look at division strategies.

English: This week, we will be finishing our stories with an extraordinary creature.

Maths: We will be continuing our work on multiplication, focusing on formal methods

English: Now we have finished reading 'The Iron Man', we will be planning and writing our. own story with an extraordinary creature

Maths: We will be beginning to look at mental methods and formal methods for multiplication

English: We will be finishing our reading of 'The Iron Man' and beginning to plan our own story with an extraordinary creature.

Maths: We will be using our learning of addition and subtraction mental and formal methods to solve word problems

English: We will continue to read The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes and focus on speech and rich vocabulary in story writing.

WC 21.09.15

Maths: We will be continuing with our work on addition and subtraction and using mental methods of both.

English: We will be starting our first narrative topic 'well-loved narratives' and will begin to read 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes.

WC 14.09.15

Maths: We will be using our learning of place value from last week to begin to use formal methods to add and subtract numbers

English: We will be continuing to explore the language used in poetry. We will be looking in particular at Haiku poems this week and will even write our own.

Maths: We will be looking at the place value and ordering and comparing numbers.

English: We will be looking at figurative language in poetry by Grace Nichols and James Carter and exploring how to use imagery ourselves.
