We were very proud to take our Y5/6 tennis team - Ellie, Isabella, Harley and Josh to the Humber School Games (Sainsbury's school games competition) to represent North Lincolnshire in tennis. Joshua from Y4 also attended as the winner of the North Lincolnshire cultural competition. Josh designed a banner to promote cultural competition. Josh's banner was up against the winners from East Riding, Hull and North East Lincolnshire.
We arrived at 9.30am and attended the opening ceremony which included a dance celebrating English and New Zealand rugby. Tamara Taylor, Captain of the English women's rugby team gave an inspirational speech and showed us her gold medal. Then, we all warmed up to Uptown Funk! It was great fun.
In the morning the children practised tennis skills in preparation for the competition in the afternoon.
After lunch, the team began their tennis games. The competition was very tough but we managed to win a lot of them. Ellie, for the girls, won all of her games. The children cheered each other on and were a great support to each other.
When the matches concluded we attended the presentation to see how we had done. We were happy to have secured third place in the tennis and Josh's banner won! Well done everyone - you should be very proud of your achievements.
