Our first half term has been a very busy one.
In English we began our novel study of Holes. The children are really benefiting from having their own book to take home and enjoy. Drama activities such as hotseating have been very popular and we have also done lots of writing including setting descriptions, diary entries and letters to name just a few.
In maths we have built solid foundations ensuring our understanding of place value and number is top notch! We have also been brushing up on our addition and subtraction strategies and using these to solve problems. The children are improving their speed table scores every week and try so hard in our arithmetic papers.
In other subjects we have enjoyed our geography based topic on the USA. In our Inspire afternoon we combined our USA topic to our art project and designed and painted USA-inspired grafitti artwork. These looked great.
We have begun our music topic where we have performed classic 'Livin' on a prayer' and also began working on songs ready for Young Voices!
