English - We will begin the half term by focusing on poetry. We will be collecting lots of ideas so we can write poems all about autumn and Bonfire Night. Our new novel study book will continue with the autumnal feel - we will reveal what it is closer to the time. In our Rainbow Grammar we will be looking at prepositions and fronted adverbials.
Maths - Our new units for this half term are shape and pattern, numbers within 20 and addition and subtraction to 20.
History - In the lead up to Bonfire Night we will looking at the significance of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot. We will also be commemorating the 100 year anniversary of the end of the First World War by finding out about the significance of the poppy as a symbol of remembrance.
Science - We will be focusing on the changing seasons by trying to answer the question 'Why does it get dark early in the winter?'. We will be investigating light and shadows and nocturnal animals.
This half term will also see us preparing for Christmas!
