Building on the success of the London 2012 Olympics the Government have continued to provide funding to support the delivery of PE and sport in primary schools through the ‘Sports Premium’ funding.
At Crowle Primary Academy we are working closely with the Axholme Academy and the Local Authority School Sports Partnership to develop sports within our school. We have four Sports Ambassadors from Year 6 (Joel, Alfie, Holly and Hannah) to help us in this process and we also have 20 chosen Sports Leaders from Key Stage 2 who are developing their sports leadership skills. A big part of their role this year is to support Pulse in the delivery of games at lunchtimes.
A programme to develop the skills of all teaching staff in the delivery of quality PE and sport is in place through CPD opportunities, coaches and mentoring. Lunchtime continues to be a focus with Pulse leading games Tuesday - Thursday, along with the sports Leaders to ensure Positive Active Lunchtimes.
We aim for more children to take part in many competitions by providing lots of inter school competitions and by taking more than one team to each event to help us achieve this. This year we have developed an efficient intra-school competition system with the whole school being allocated into 4 class teams and in these they compete with each other at different sports throughout the year
In assembly we wrote a vision for PE;
“At Crowle Primary Academy we like PE lessons that are fair, challenging and enjoyable. Through PE we like to learn a wide range of sports and skills so that we can perform well in games and competitions. We want PE to help us to get fit and to lead healthy lifestyles. Everybody should be able to take part in PE and have the chance to become a Sports Leader.”
