This week we will be learning about ...

Week beginning 13th July

On Monday we will be completing our DT project - look out for the photos!!

In English we will be writing dialogue.

In Maths we will be working on division.

Monday is Push-Up Day!

In English we will be reading and discussing legends.

In Maths we will be telling the time and then moving onto the grid method for multiplication.


Week beginning 29th June

In English we are reading and discussing legends.

In Maths we are looking at the properties of 2D shapes.



Week beginning 22nd June
In literacy we will be continuing our focus on non-fiction texts. The children will be completing their own newspaper article answering our big question of 'how far would you go to look cool?' and publishing it.

In numeracy we will be learning about subtraction, both mental and written methods.


Week beginning 15th June

In literacy we will be continuing our focus on non-fiction texts. The children will be creating their own newspaper article answering our big question of 'how far would you go to look cool?'

In numeracy we will be finishing our learning about addition, both mental and written.

Week beginning 8th June

In literacy we are starting a new unit answering the question 'how far would you go to look cool?'

In numeracy we will be finishing our work investigating weight, before moving onto mental addition and subtraction.

Week beginning 1st June

In Literacy we will be completing our work on shape poems, before writing a letter to congratulate the Royal family on the birth of the new baby princess.

In Numeracy we will be finishing our work on division, before focusing on data handling and weight.

In English we are moving onto looking at shape based poetry.

In Numeracy we are continuing to focus on mental multiplication and division.

Week beginning 11th May

In English we will be finishing our learning on fiction texts. The children will be writing their own mystery stories, using all the skills they have developed from the beginning of this term.

In Numeracy we are looking at mental multiplications and inverse operations. 

Week beginning 4th May

In English we will be continuing our work on fiction texts. The children will be looking at composing their own mystery story, using features that we have discussed in our previous learning.

In Numeracy we will be moving our learning onto mental addition and subtraction, focusing on use of number facts.

Week beginning 27th April

In English we will be continuing our work on fiction texts. We will be continuing our work on Ottoline and the Yellow Cat. 

In Maths we are starting to look at multiplication using partitioning and the grid method.

Week beginning 20th April

In English we will be beginning to look at fiction texts.

In Maths we will be finishing our work on subtracting 3 digit numbers.

Week beginning 23rd March

In English we will be completing our own non-fiction texts.

In Maths we will be working on analogue and digital time.


Week beginning 16th March

In English we will be continuing to write our own non-fiction.

In Maths we will be adding using the expanded column method.


Week beginning 9th March

On Monday it is our Wilderspin trip.

In English we will be writing our own non-fiction.

In Maths we will be looking at place value and addition.


Week beginning 2nd March

In English we will be reading for information and comparing similarities and differences. On Friday it is our Book Day and we will be studying one of our teacher's favourite books.

In Maths we will be  rounding to 10 and 100, as well as subtracting with 2 digit numbers and with money.

In English we will be continuing with our study of non-fiction, asking questions and retrieving information.

In Maths we will be working on perimeter and angles.



Week beginning 9th February

In English we will be continuing with our study of non-fiction, asking questions and retrieving information.

In Maths we will finish our work on fractions and move onto identifying right angles, obtuse angles and acute angles.


Week beginning 2nd February

In  English we will be beginning a unit of work on non-fiction. Our focus will be retrieving information.

In Maths we will be continuing to explore fractions.

In English we will be drafting and writing poetry.

In Maths we will be exploring times tables and fractions.

Week beginning 19th January

In English we will be reading and writing poetry with a focus on playing with words.

In Maths we will be partitioning 2 and 3 digit numbers to add, then also looking at the 4 times table.


Week beginning 12th January

In English we will be reading and writing riddles.

In Maths we will be looking at place value and counting.

Week beginning 7th January

On Wednesday our main focus will be our SEAL topic 'Going for Goals' and we will be setting personal and class goals.

In English we will be reading and writing riddles.

In Maths we will be looking at place value.



Week beginning 15th December

We will be writing our Explanation texts this week and completing our work on the Brrr  topic.

Week beginning 8th December

In Literacy we will be completing our investigation into who killed King Tut. Focusing on writing a formal letter to the British Museum, we will also be looking at paragraphs and planning an explanation text.

In Numeracy we will be looking at subtraction, using counting up as a method.

Week beginning 1st December

In Literacy we will continue our work on non-fiction texts. In particular we will focus our attention on main and subordinate clauses.

In Numeracy we will be measuring capacity in millilitres and placing  2 and 3 digit numbers on a number line.

Week beginning 24th November

In Literacy we will be continuing our work on non-fiction and in particular looking at paragraphing and tenses.

In Numeracy we will be completing our work on addition and subtraction (for now!) and measuring in cm.


Week beginning 17th November

In Literacy we will be looking at complex sentences and starting a non-fiction unit of work, in order to find out whether or not Tutankhamen was killed. The children will be enrolled as part of the Ancient Crime Squad and will use non-fiction texts to find information that will help us solve this case.

In Numeracy we will be adding and subtracting including with money.

In Literacy we will be writing conversations.

In Numeracy we will be starting some work on  fractions.

Week beginning 3rd November

In Literacy we will be learning more about  narrative, reading the rest of 'Storm.'

In Numeracy we will be thinking about the properties of number.


Week beginning 20th October

In Literacy we will be continuing to read 'Storm' and comparing it with another story.

In Numeracy we will be continuing our work on handling data.

It is also our Inspire this week and we will be doing spooky activities on Friday.


Week beginning 13th October

In Literacy we will be starting to read a story called Storm and looking at character and setting.

In Numeracy we will be learning more about pictograms and block graphs.

Week beginning 6th October

In  Literacy we will be writing our own autobiographies using powerpoint. In numeracy we will be multiplying and dividing mentally.


Week beginning 29th September

In Literacy we will be continuing to look at autobiographies and beginning to write our own. On Thursday we will be celebrating National Poetry Day.

In Numeracy we will be looking at Number and Place Value aswell as Mental Addition and Subtraction.




Week beginning 22nd September

In Literacy this week we will be studying different types of autobiography.

In Numeracy this week we will be using mental startegies to add and subtract.

Don't forget to come in your PE kit on Monday ready for the Cross Country.


Week Beginning 15th September

In Literacy this week we will be writing our own poetry and celebrating Roald Dahl Day as he is our author of the month.

In Numeracy this week we will be learning about 3D shape and number bonds to 10 and 100.

We will also be personalising our frames.

Week Beginning 8th September

In Literacy this week we will have a focus on performance poetry and we will be reading several poems by Roger McGough.

In Numeracy this week the focus is on calendars and digital and analogue time.
