Week Beginning 13th July 2015
 
This week in Little Owls our focus is holidays! We will be reading lots of stories on this theme.

 
Monday morning 9am-11am is open morning for parents of FS1 children. 
 
The Foundation Stage 2 children will be exploring seasides and writing postcards and poems, pirate problem solving in maths and exploring more and less, creating a sand art beach picture, improving jumping skills in PE, playing a seaside memory game - "I went to the seaside and I took...", drawing a beach scene on a computer art program, guided reading and joining in seaside themed songs and rhymes.

The foundation stage 1 children will be exploring seasides, creating a seaside scene using strips of tissue paper, seaside singing and ordering numbers on shells.
 
In Foundation 2 phonics our focus will be trigraphs - ear, air, igh and ure. We will be learning to spot these trigraphs in words. We will also be learning the alphabet (letter names) using games and an alphabet song and applying our skills in reading and writing simple sentences. This week we will be revising all our previously taught tricky words.

In Foundation 1 phonics we will be exploring rhyming and initial sounds focusing on the letter sounds f and l.

Week Beginning 6th July 2015
 
This week in Little Owls we will continue to explore sea creatures and reptiles. We will be reading stories such as 'Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfister.
 
Monday this week is our push up morning where the children will spend a morning in their new classroom with their new teacher. 

Thursday morning 9am-11am is open morning for parents of FS1 children. 
 
The Foundation Stage 2 children will be writing acrostic poems, practising counting in 2s and adding by counting on from the biggest number, improving throwing skills in PE, guided reading and joining in reptile and ocean themed songs and rhymes.

The foundation stage 1 children will be moving name writing, counting and adding fish, making a rainbow fish collage and meeting our new friends in stay and play sessions.
 
In Foundation 2 phonics we will be revising digraphs and trigraphs. We will be learning strategies to read CCVCC words. We will also be learning the alphabet (letter names) using games and an alphabet song and applying our skills in reading and writing simple sentences. This week we will be revising the tricky words do, when, out and what.

This week in Little Owls we will be exploring snails and sea creatures following our interest in the story The Snail and the Whale and Tiddler by Julia Donaldson.
 
The Foundation Stage 2 children will be writing messages on rocks - just like the snail in the story!, observing  our bean plants and writing in our bean diaries, exploring addition and subtraction maths problems, naming and describing 3d shapes, playing a sea animals memory game, guided reading and joining in snail and ocean themed songs and rhymes.
The foundation stage 1 children will be moving like snails, sorting mini-beasts, practising counting and number correspondence and baking a mini-beast bun.
 
In Foundation 2 phonics we will be revising digraphs and trigraphs. We will be learning strategies to read words containing digraphs and trigraphs. We will also be learning the alphabet (letter names) using games and an alphabet song and applying our skills in reading and writing simple sentences. This week we will be revising all our reception tricky words.

In Foundation 1 phonics we will be exploring rhyming words in a song. We will also be focusing on 'g' - listening to a 'g' story and spotting objects beginning with the 'g' phoneme on a picture.

Week Beginning 22nd June 2015
 
This week in Little Owls we will be exploring mini beasts. We will be reading stories like What the Ladybird Heard and Superworm by Julia Donaldson. We will also be making symmetrical butterfly paintings and taking part in a respecting minibeasts circle time.

The Foundation Stage 2 children will also be making story maps and writing sentences from the story on ladybird templates, observing  our bean plants and writing in our bean diaries, exploring doubling through a ladybird maths problem, naming and describing 3d shapes, bug hunting, going on a minibeast adventure on the Ipads, taking part in running and obstacle races in PE, guided reading, playing a What am I? minibeast identification game, enjoying minibeast songs and rhymes and guided reading. 
 
 
The foundation stage 1 children will also practising running and obstacle races for sports day, moving like caterpillars, naming and recognising shapes and mini beast hunting in the outside area.
 
In Foundation 2 phonics we will be revising previously taught phonemes. We will be learning strategies to read CCVCC 'slept' and 'scrunch'. We will also be learning the alphabet (letter names) using games and an alphabet song and applying our skills in reading and writing simple sentences containing CCVCC words. Week Beginning 15th June 2015
 
This week in Little Owls we will be exploring healthy eating. We will be reading Handa's Surprise and The Hungry Caterpillar. We will be making fruit kebabs and butterfly pictures. Our wildlife animal topic will continue and our focus will be large animals.
 
The Foundation Stage 2 children will also be writing sentences about Handa's Surprise using describing words, observing  our bean plants and writing in our bean diaries, exploring addition through a skittle game, making a pictogram of favourite fruits and interpreting the data on the graph, taking part in running and obstacle races in PE, guided reading, playing a fruit match memory game.
 
The foundation stage 1 children will also be taking part in running and obstacle races, naming shapes, cutting out simple shapes for a picture and name writing with finger paint.
 
In Foundation 2 phonics we will be revising previously taught phonemes. We will be learning strategies to read CVCC and CCVC words such as ‘train’ and ‘steep’ and two-syllable words such as 'windmill' and 'sandpit'. We will also be learning the alphabet (letter names) using games and an alphabet song and applying our skills in reading and writing simple sentences containing CVCC and CCVC words. Our tricky words this week are were, there, little and one.

Week Beginning 8th June 2015
 
This week in Little Owls we continue to explore wildlife animals but move our focus to the jungle. We will be reading books such as Dear Zoo, Rumble in the Jungle and Monkey Puzzle. Following our visit to Yorkshire Wildlife park we will be painting pictures of our favourite wildlife animal. We will be recreating a jungle safari bus and counting and describing the animals we see on our journey.  
 

The Foundation Stage 2 children will also be writing  information texts about wildlife animals using describing words, observing  our bean plants and writing in our bean diaries, exploring addition and subtraction in a wildlife theme, exploring pattern including animal patterns and camouflage, taking part in running and obstacle races in PE, guided reading and singing jungle songs, playing a jungle animal memory game.
 
The foundation stage 1 children will also be enjoying jungle animal movements and counting and describing animals on a jungle safari.
 
In Foundation 2 phonics we will be revising previously taught phonemes. We will be learning strategies to read CVCC and CCVC words such as ‘tent’ and ‘plum’. We will also be learning the alphabet (letter names) using games and an alphabet song and applying our skills in reading and writing simple sentences containing CVCC and CCVC words.  This week in Little Owls we look forward to our visit to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and continue our All Creatures Great and Small theme by focussing on the animals we see at the park. We will also be reading Jack and the Beanstalk.
 
 
 
The Foundation Stage 2 children will be writing character descriptions of the Giant from Jack and the Beanstalk, drawing a picture of the Giant on a computer programme, typing poems about giants on laptops, planting a bean, measuring beanstalks and comparing lengths of beanstalks, making a bean diary, estimating using beans in maths, making a junk box giant, guided reading, recounting our visit to the wildlife park, singing question and answer songs and taking part in a circle time in a ‘good to be me’ theme.
 
The foundation stage 1 children will be reading Jack and the Beanstalk and drawing a picture from the story, sequencing our visit to the wildlife park, making an atelier picture using animal patterns, singing growing songs and taking part in a ‘good to be me’ circle time.

This week in Little Owls we continue our All Creatures Great and Small theme and our focus on bears.  This week we will have a Teddy Bear’s picnic. We will be bringing in our own teddy bears and making sandwiches and healthy snacks for our picnic. Our focus will be on the story ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’.
 
 
 The Foundation Stage 2 children will be writing about bears, making a moveable teddy bear, exploring capacity and 3d shapes, drawing pictures from the story using a computer programme,  performing teddy bear rolls in PE,  exploring feelings in circle time, practising cursive letter formation, playing an animal memory game and singing bear songs.
 
The foundation stage 1 children will be re-enacting the story using movement, having porridge snack, making Goldilocks and the three bears puppets, exploring opposites and in maths we will be focusing on the number 3 and practising number correspondence. We will also be singing teddy bear songs.
 
 
In Foundation 2 phonics we will be revising the phonemes air and qu. We will be practising reading and writing simple words and words with two syllables. Week Beginning 11th May 2015
 
 This week in Little Owls we continue our All Creatures Great and Small theme by looking at bears. Our focus will be on the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen.
 
 
The Foundation Stage 2 children will be writing about how the bear is feeling in the the bear hunt story, making story maps and retelling the story using actions and making lists of things you need to take on a bear hunt. In PE we will be re-enacting the story. Using Ipods, we will take pictures of scenes we have created from the story. We will also be finding out about bears, making maps and binoculars for a bear hunt, exploring number bonds to ten, ordering numbers 0-20, practising cursive letter formation, playing a bear hunt memory game and singing bear songs.
 
 
The foundation stage 1 children will be re-enacting the story in the hall using small apparatus for going under, over and through, sequencing the story, going on a bear foot number hunt  around school and making binoculars and maps for a bear hunt. We will also be singing bear songs.

This week in Little Owls we continue our All Creatures Great and Small theme. Our focus this week will be strange pets following our interests in topic sessions.
 
The Foundation Stage 2 children will be designing, naming and writing about a strange pet. In maths we will be exploring more and less using unifix cubes and large blocks and doubling and halving. We will also be guided reading, playing bumper cars in PE, making up songs, practising cursive letter formation, playing a matching pairs memory game, drawing a self-portrait, making a seed picture and singing animal songs.
 
The foundation stage 1 children will be baking an animal biscuit, drawing a self-portrait and exploring positional language.

 This week in Little Owls we continue our All Creatures Great and Small theme. We will be listening to lots of stories about animals including ‘What if?’ By A.H. Benjamin and Jane Chapman and Noah’s Ark.
 
 

The Foundation Stage 2 children will be listening to animal riddles and writing their own. We will have fun sharing our riddles with the other children. In maths we will be problem solving and exploring addition through adding scores from skittles. We will also be making a pictogram of our favourite animals. In our animal topic work we will be discussing how to look after pets following our interest in the vet role play area. We will also be guided reading, practising skipping and playing ‘bumper cars’ in PE, completing a farm scene on a computer programme, practising cursive letter formation, singing animal songs and taking part in a ‘Good to be me’ themed circle time and drawing our favourite toy using pastels.
 
The foundation stage 1 children will be taking part in circle time and our theme is ‘Good to be me’, listening to the story of Noah’s ark and counting animals onto the boat and sorting animals into hoops. We will also be moving like different animals in a zoo themed movement session, writing our names and  playing a simple farmyard game on the laptops.

 This week in Little Owls we continue our All Creatures Great and Small theme. We will be listening to lots of stories about life on a farm.
 

The Foundation Stage 2 children will be writing the story of Farmer Duck by Martin Waddell in our own words and using ipods to take photographs of farm life in our unit which we will be labelling. In maths we will be exploring repeating patterns and ordering numbers to 20. We will be discussing various animals saying what we already know and what we would like to find out about them. We will also be guided reading, playing team games in PE, using a simple computer programme to draw a favourite animal, practising cursive letter formation and singing animal songs. This week we will also be discussing dental health.
 
The foundation stage 1 children will be planting sunflower seeds in wellies, sequencing the life-cycle of a sunflower and size ordering sunflowers and singing sunflower and farmyard songs.

This week in Little Owls we begin our new theme All Creatures Great and Small and our provision area now includes a vets and a pet shop. We will be finding out what happens at a vets this week and the local vet will be visiting our class. We will also be making shape tractors and drawing and labelling a pet in a basket.
 

The Foundation Stage 2 children will also be retelling the farmer duck story with puppets and discussing events in the story in detail. In maths we will be exploring more and less. We will also be guided reading, playing parachute games and moving like animals in PE, using a simple computer programme to draw a favourite animal, practising cursive letter formation and singing animal songs.
 
 
The foundation stage 1 children will also be painting farm animals and exploring counting and practical taking away through animal number rhymes and songs.

Week Beginning 23rd March 2015
 
 This week in Little Owls we begin with the story Farmer Duck by Martin Wadell. We will be looking at the animals that live on the farm and the jobs that need to be done. We will be discussing the characters and events in the story and making a stick puppet of our favourite character.
 

We will also be looking at the Easter celebration, labelling pictures of Easter, making Easter chocolate nests and other craft activities. 

The foundation stage 2 children will be using small appartatus in PE to balance, completing a coding activity on the laptops and guided reading.

On Thursday it is the INSPIRE afternoon for reception children and we look forward to welcoming you to join us in a fun Easter craft activity.

In Foundation 2 phonics we will be revising phase 2 and 3 phonemes and learning in a Farmer Duck theme. We will be practising reading and writing simple words and words with two syllables. We will also be learning the alphabet (letter names) using an alphabet song and applying our skills in reading and writing simple sentences.  This week in Little Owls we continue our dinosaur topic by exploring dinosaur eggs and baby dinosaurs. The Foundation Stage 1 children will also begin looking at baby farm animals in preparation for our Easter ‘new life’ mini-topic.
 
 
The Foundation Stage 2 children will be writing dinosaur stories, exploring time and more and less in maths, performing a sequence of moves in a dinosaur dance. We will also be guided reading, playing a dinosaur names memory game, practising cursive letter formation and singing dinosaur songs.
 

Foundation 2 children will be taking part in the skip4life long rope challenge.
 
The Foundation Stage 1 children will be exploring 2d shapes, colour mixing and dinosaur tracking. They will also be introduced to the names of farm animals and their babies through the story Noisy Farm by Rod Campbell and other stories.
 
In Foundation 2 phonics we will be revising the phonemes qu, y, ear and y. We will be practising reading and writing simple words and words with two syllables. This week in Little Owls we continue our learning journey into the Land of the Dinosaurs. Our focus this week is 'What did dinosaurs eat?' following our interest in the story 'Tyrannosaurus Drip' by Julia Donaldson. 
 
 
 

The Foundation Stage 2 children will be building on our dinosaur descriptions last week to create dinosaur poems and some of us will be writing these on ipads, exploring heavier and lighter by weighing bones and fossils, finding numbers on a 100 square and subtracting in a dinosaur theme. We will also be making a Mother's Day card, guided reading, completing coding activities in ICT, continuing to practise our equipment control skills in PE, playing a dinosaur memory game, practising cursive letter formation and singing dinosaur songs.
 
The Foundation 1 children will be making Mother's Day cards and presents (Shhh! It's a secret!), looking at different dinosaurs and moving like them, learning number recognition and correspondance through a dinosaur egg maths story,  writing names in our Mother's day cards and exploring musical instruments through a dinosaur story.

This week in Little Owls we continue our learning journey into the Land of the Dinosaurs. We will become palaeontologists, exploring dinosaur bones and fossils in our Dinosaur Dig role play area.
 
 
The Foundation Stage 2 children will be writing palaeontologist notes and recording dig findings, labelling and describing dinosaurs, finding out what dinosaurs eat, weighing bones and fossils, finding numbers on a 100 square and subtracting in a dinosaur theme. We will also be guided reading, completing coding activities in ICT, using balls, quoits, bean bags and hoops in PE, playing a dinosaur memory game, practising cursive letter formation and singing dinosaur songs.

This week in Little Owls we are learning about Shrove Tuesday which happened over the half term holiday. We will be reading 'The Runaway Pancake', singing a 'make a pancake' song, making and enjoying pancake snack, tossing pancakes and making playdough pancakes! We will also begin our topic work on Dinosaurs.

The Foundation Stage 2 children will be writing instructions about how to write pancakes on paper and writing lists of ingredients on the ipad notes application. We will be exploring objects associated with dinosaurs, discussing their names and what they are. In groups we will be discussing what we already know about dinosaurs and writing about what we would like to find out to shape our learning this term. We are going to create our own class Dinosaur topic book. In maths we will be practising addition, counting in 2s, measuring bones with unifix cubes and exploring dinosaur repeating patterns. We will be sharing the story of the Chinese Zodiac, making Chinese Dragons, lanterns or sheep (this year is the year of the sheep), learning a Chinese new year song, dancing to Chinese music and making Chinese cornflake cookies and tasting some typical Chinese food that would be eaten at Chinese New Year and using chopsticks with noodles!

This week in Little Owls we continue our exploration of cold climates, our focus this week is penguins following our enjoyment and interest in The Emporer’s Egg story.
 
 

The Foundation Stage 2 children be writing about the story Penguin by Polly Dunbar, making a polar bear fruity snack, composing music on an Ipad application and making a paper plate penguin. In maths we will be exploring money and more and less, ordering numbers 11-19 and naming and describing solid shapes. This week in Little Owls we continue our Winter weather and exploration of the Arctic/ Antarctic. We will be reading lots of fiction and non-fiction books based on this topic area and exploring ice this week through lots of different activities.
 
The Foundation Stage 2 children be using their phonics knowledge to label an Arctic picture,  writing tricky words and using talk partners to discuss some interesting pictures of the Artic and Antartic. In maths we will be drawing and describing common 2d shapes, subtracting in an Arctic theme and exploring one more and one less than a given number using number tracks. We will also be guided reading, practising bean bag skills in PE, playing a matching pairs memory game, painting salt snowflakes, practising cursive letter formation and singing Winter songs with a focus on pitch-matching. As a special treat this week we will be watching a performance by The Magic Carpet theatre company.

Week Beginning 12th January, 2015

This week we continue our Winter and cold weather theme and focus the Arctic and Arctic animals. We will be reading story books based on this theme such as Polar Bear, Polar Bear what do you hear? by Bill Martin and Eric Carle and non fiction books.
 
 
In Foundation 2 we are learning about the Arctic and animals that live there. We will be writing sentences about these animals. We will be ordering the story Penguin by Polly Dunbar by threading the story pictures onto string. We will begin exploring the features of non-fiction texts. In maths we will be practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, measuring using non-standard units, exploring numbers using the terms more, less, biggest and smallest and writing numbers.

We will also be moving like Arctic animals, taking part in guided reading, playing an Arctic matching pairs game, painting penguins, making a paper plate walrus, drawing an Arctic animal using a computer art package and playing simple rhythms on chime bars.
 
In foundation 1 we will be going on a Winter hunt, name writing, recognising and ordering penguin numbers, taking part in wiggle and giggle and singing Winter songs.

In phonics, the Reception children will be revising previously taught tricky words focussing on the ai, ee, igh and oa phonemes, learning the letter names through the alphabet and practising reading and writing sentences. Our tricky word this week is my.

Welcome back! We hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas and are now ready to settle back into our school routine. We will be sharing memories of Christmas in a circle time and begin exploring the Winter season through songs and activities.
 
 
 
In Foundation 2 we will be drawing and writing about a special Christmas memory. We will also be discussing how to keep warm in the Winter weather and making a collage using different materials that keep us warm. In numeracy we will begin to explore addition by counting on from the biggest number. We are also going to practise counting in 1's, 2's and 5's. We will also be keeping our brains fit by playing a memory skills game, practising handwriting, exploring rhythm using instruments and reading our school books.
 
In foundation 1 we will discussing ways to keep warm in Winter and dressing bears in suitable clothing. We will complete a simple computer programme to dress a bear. We will be playing Kim's game using Winter objects and practising writing our names.

In phonics, the Reception children will be revising previously taught tricky words focussing on the th and ng phonemes, learning the letter names through the alphabet and practising reading and writing sentences. Foundation 1 will be focussing on Winter rhymes.

On Monday and Thursday we are performing Christmas songs to our families and afterwards we hope you can join us for festive activities in our Christmas stay and play.

We will be using our counting skills to make reindeer dust. The Reception children will be counting in 2s and making 10 by using different combinations of ingredients and following instructions and the Foundation 1 children will be carefully counting scoops to 10.  The Foundation Stage 2 children be ordering numbers to 20, exploring money, practising writing tricky words, using our phonics knowledge and skills to write a sentence in a speech bubble.  We will also be making movements on a journey through space in PE, playing a ‘crazy copy’ colour memory game, practising letter formation using the magic pencil and playing a space explorer simulation on the laptops.

The Foundation Stage 2 children will also be practising letter formation using the magic pencil programme and in orange rice trays, taking photographs using Ipods, carving pumpkin faces on a computer programme, playing a scarecrow game in PE, making a Halloween bun and improving their memories by playing a Halloween word memory game.

The Foundation Stage 1 children will be continuing the Nursery Rhyme theme, practising counting and talking about the weather as part of our daily routine. We will also be exploring, mixing and making handprints with autumn coloured paint, making vegetable soup, singing vegetable and harvest songs and ordering numbers on autumn leaves.
 
In phonics the Foundation Stage 2 children will be learning to recognise, hear and say the phonemes h, b, l, f, ff and ss. We will also be learning how to sound out and blend the phonemes that we know in words e.g. m-a-t blends to mat. This week we will be learning how to read the tricky words no, go  and I. The Foundation 1 children will be exploring words, sounds, rhyme and alliteration through a variety of nursery rhymes and songs. They will be using their listening, attention and language skills.

Week Beginning 29th September
 
This week in Little Owls we are focusing on the season of autumn and the harvest. We will be reading story books relating to this season such as The Little Red Hen and The Enormous Turnip. We will be exploring autumn poems and using our phonics knowledge to write our own simple autumn poems; recognising numbers up to 20 on autumn leaves; retelling The Little Red Hen Story using props; baking bread; drawing pictures about the characters and events in The Little Red Hen Story to demonstrate our understanding; making leaf print pictures; counting and adding conkers and singing harvest and autumn songs.
 

The Foundation Stage 2 children will also begin practising letter formation using the magic pencil and in glitter trays, making a class “Guess the voice” game on the laptops and moving in different ways on simple apparatus.
 
The Foundation Stage 1 children will be continuing the Nursery Rhyme theme, practising counting and talking about the weather as part of our daily routine. We will also be learning to count carefully using conkers; making our family trees and making a conker roll painting using autumn colours.

We will also be learning how to sound out and blend the phonemes that we know in words e.g. m-a-t blends to mat. This week we will be learning how to read the tricky words the and to. The Foundation 1 children will be exploring words, sounds and rhyme through nursery rhymes and will be using their listening, attention and language skills. 

Week Beginning 22nd September
 
This week in Little Owls we continue our Special Memories topic by focusing on families. We will be reading lots of story books about families. We will be exploring growth from baby to adult; sequencing age pictures; discussing things we can do now that we couldn't do as a baby; ordering numbers 0-10 and making shape people pictures.

We will be practising counting and talking about the weather as part of our daily routine. We will be learning to recognise numbers to ten and making a family tree.
 
In phonics the Foundation Stage 2 children will be learning to recognise, hear and say the phonemes g, o, c and k. We will also be learning how to sound out and blend the phonemes that we know in words e.g. m-a-t blends to mat. The Foundation 1 children will be exploring words, sounds and rhyme through nursery rhymes and will be using their listening, attention and language skills. 
 


Week Beginning 15th September

This week in Little Owls we begin our Special Memories topic by focusing on birthdays. We will be reading lots of story books about birthdays but our main story will be Kipper's Birthday by Mike Inkpen. We will be practising counting and number correspondence by putting candles on cakes; making sandwiches and a birthday cake; playing a birthday memory game; exploring 2d shapes through presents; and making repeating pattern paper chain decorations.
 
The Foundation Stage 2 children will also begin practising letter formation using the magic pencil and in glitter trays, making voice recordings on the laptops and moving in different ways in PE.
 
The Foundation Stage 1 children will be continuing the Nursery Rhyme theme with a focus on Incy Wincy Spider and One, two, three, four, five Once I caught a fish alive. We will be practising counting and talking about the weather as part of our daily routine. We will be learning to recognise numbers to ten and making a hanging spider
 

In phonics the Foundation Stage 2 children will be learning to recognise, hear and say the phonemes i, n, m and d. We will also be learning how to sound out and blend the phonemes that we know in words e.g. m-a-t blends to mat. The Foundation 1 children will be exploring words, sounds and rhyme through nursery rhymes and will be using their listening, attention and language skills.

Week Beginning 8th September
 
A big welcome to all our new children and to the children that were with us last year. We hope you had a lovely Summer and we are looking forward to a great year full of fun, learning and exploring!
 
This week we will be getting to know our teachers, friends and our learning environment (the classroom!). We will be taking part in the daily routines of our class such as the register, talking about the weather, snack-time and lunchtime. Our classroom has lots of new furniture and exciting equipment and we will be learning how to use it properly.

Our focus this week is on the Nursery Rhymes Humpty Dumpty and Incy Wincy Spider. We will be playing parachute games, nursery rhyme bingo making a handprint spider picture and making a Humpty Dumpty Egg puzzle! 
 
 

The Foundation Stage 2 children will also be sequencing a nursery rhyme, learning number names, order and value through the 'Once I caught a fish alive' rhyme, thinking about names for a bear and learning to write their own names in cursive letters, exploring musical instruments through the story Peace at Last, size ordering bears, making breakfast in playdough for Mr Bear and painting a picture of their families.
 
In phonics the Foundation Stage 2 children will be learning to recognise the letters S, A, T and P and will be finding objects that begin with these letter sounds e.g. S for spider, socks and sand. They will also be practising oral blending e.g. c-a-t is cat. The Foundation 1 children will be exploring words, sounds and rhyme through nursery rhymes and will be using their listening, attention and language skills.
