What we are learning

Week beginning: 15th July
This week we will be preparing some invitations for our art exhibition (so look out for these parents). We will also be focusing on our enterprise skills by preparing for the summer fayre on Thursday - looking at advertising, costings, rotas and prizes. 
We will be completing our final art piece on Beatrice Milhazes by creating 3D hanging pieces. 
In numeracy we are going to play some maths games and take part in some maths quizzes so get your brains in gear! 

It should be a jam-packed, fun filled week! 


Week beginning: 8th July
This week we will be completing our second art project based on Beatice Milhazes. We will be creating a painted piece for Crowle Show and a collage piece for our exhibition. 
We are also continuing our focus on Brazil by having a heated debate: Is hosting the Olympics really worth the money? Then on Friday we will write an argument text based on this debate. 
In Numeracy we will be handling some pesky frogs and toads in a maths investigation!

Week beginning: 1st July
The week of our production has finally arrived! We have been working very hard and will be completing final rehearsals, showcasing our dress rehearsal to the rest of the school on Tuesday and then our big performances to parents and careres are on Wednesday!
We also have our Alton Towers trip to look forward to on Friday!
A very busy but fun filled week.

Week beginning: 17th & 24th June

We are now working hard preparing for our play 'The Lion King'.  Much time is being spent learning lines, songs and practising.  We will also be getting costumes and scenery prepared.

We will all be doing our presentation on our chosen topic over the next fortnight to our class. 

Week beginning: 10th June

This week we are starting on our Lion King Play - make sure you are learning your lines.  We are going to begin our art work, based on the Brazilian artist, Beatriz Milhazes, and this will lead into our Inspire afternoon on Thursday afternoon.  

In Literacy, we are going to do some writing imagining we are super heroes - what power would you choose?

In Numeracy, we are going to be detectives, solving a murder through maths!


Week beginning: 3rd June

This week we are starting our Brazil topic, working in groups researching and compiling a country study.  We are also doing a piece of writing on the picture book Flotsam.  In numeracy we are doing some investigation work, looking at why Braille is based on a 6 grid!


Week beginning: 20th May

This week we are having a special Lion King week, in preparation for our play.  We will be making masks, doing research and information writing on animals, science on habitats and food chains, looking at play script writing and some drama work.  Looking forward to it. 

If you have any cardboard, we need this for Monday please.


Week beginning: 13th May

This week we have our SATs exams.  We'll also be doing a bit more maths revision before Wednesday and Thursday.
 


Week beginning: 7th May

Literacy: we are working on our reading comprehension skil and continuing wth our Grammar and Punctuation work. 

Numeracy: we are focussing this week on general revision covering many topics, including word problems and money. 



Week beginning: 29th April

Literacy: we are working on our reading comprehension skill, doing a past reading paper and another grammar and punctuation test.   

Numeracy: we are focussing this week on general revision covering many topics. 



Week beginning: 22nd April

Literacy: we are working on our reading comprehension skills and looking at nouns and verbs in grammar.

Numeracy: we are focussing this week on fractions, decimals and percentages.  We will also be doing some past SATs papers to see how we are getting on.


Week beginning: 15th April

Literacy: we are working on our reading comprehension skills and looking at speech marks in grammar.

Numeracy: we are focussing this week on word problems involving measurements, time and using +, -, x and /.


Week beginning: 24th March

Literacy: we are working on our reading comprehension skills and looking at double negatives and use of 'I and me' in grammar.

Numeracy: we will revising perimeter, missing angles and area.



Week beginning: 11th March

Literacy: we are going to be writing a playscript.

Numeracy: we will be learning about calculation + - x and /. 


Week beginning: 4th March

We have a very busy week, with Jack Greene, a Tudor expert coming in on Tuesday (watch out for photos), and our class trip to listen to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and 20-21 art gallery tour on Friday (more photos will be loaded).  We have also got children competing at the swimming gala on Wednesday and Quick Sticks competition on Thursday.  Phew!!!! 

Literacy: we are going to make a presentation on the Tudors and present this to the other children.

Numeracy: we will be learning how to interpret and draw Pie Charts.  Bring those compasses!  

We will also be drawing a Tudor Galleon.  Have a look at the powerpoint at the bottom of the page.



Week beginning: 24th February 

Literacy: we are doing a unit on non-chornological reports - a report that presents information in a clear and systematic way, describing things the way they are.  We will be writing a report on Tudor Exploration.

Numeracy: we will be looking at transforming shapes, particularly focusing on rotation.  

We will also be completing past Reading and Maths SATs papers this week to see how we are getting on - good luck!
