A Look Back at Autumn 1
Barn Owls have had very busy and enjoyable half term. Here are some of our highlights:
Making New Friends
The children have enjoyed making new friends and working in pairs and small groups with different children. The year 3 children have had lots of fun on the ‘big’ playground!
Bill’s New Frock
Bill’s New Frock by Anne Fine is a fantastic novel and after finishing reading the story we wrote a similar story called Gill’s New Trousers! We had great fun inventing characters and planning the plot.
In geography we have increased our knowledge of the world and the continents within it. We can locate Europe on a map and can identify countries within Europe. We particularly enjoyed finding out about capital cities and presenting our information to parents to decide which is ‘The Coolest Capital City in Europe’. Linked to Geography we have created vibrant and realistic pictures of London landmarks using pastels. Our artwork is proudly displayed in the main corridor.
This half term our music learning was based on Mamma Mia by Abba. As well as learning to sing the song we have developed our knowledge of beat and music composition through playing the glockenspiel.
European Languages Day
As well as practising how to say hello in many different languages and having a go at lots of fun French activities such as lotto and writing a French number song, we got to taste brioche, croissants and pain au chocolat on European Languages Day!
