Our first term is very busy! A lot of time is devoted to English and Maths as both of these are of high importance. In English we will be launching our new novel study approach, reading and exploring "Holes" by Louis Sachar. Spelling rules will also be taught. September also sees us celebrate Roald Dahl Day and National Poetry Day.
In Maths we will begin with place value and then move onto using our four rules and applying these to problem solving. Times tables are key to this, so please ensure they are practiced at home.
We have already launched our geography topic about the USA and will be excited to further our learning about this country.
The children are all attending Young Voices this year so we will be beginning to learn the songs this term in preparation for this amazing event.
Our art is a focus on the media paint, and what better way to do this than through learning about and and experimenting with graffiti art. This will link to our Inspire event too.
Our PSHE studies this term are linked to our place in the world and RE learning will focus on the Muslim way of life.
In indoor PE the topic is "Body Manangement" and we will be working on balances involving both floorwork and apparatus. Our outdoor PE will be led by Carrie Dodge who is an excellent PE coach joining our staff team this year.
