Autumn 2 learning
This half term, in English, we will be exploring picture books by the author Anthony Brown. We will be writing character descriptions, letters, diary extracts, chapters and stories based on the books and answering questions about the text in reading using our ERIC skills - explain, retrieval, inference and (author) choice . We will also be exploring texts about Romans in reading to support our History topic.
In maths we will be continuing to explore addition and subtraction in addition to graphs, length and perimeter.
In spelling we will be learning how to apply spelling strategies in our writing, revising homophones, proofreading and exploring word endings.
In grammar we will be revising word classes and exploring noun and adverbial phrases.
In science we will be investigating sound and hearing through the question - Why is the sound that 'Little Mix' makes enjoyed by so many?
In art we will be exploring collage through Roman mosaics.
In history we will be learning about the Roman Empire and its impact on Britain.
In RE we will be exploring Christmas through the question ‘Has Christmas lost its true meaning?’
In computing we will be learning programming and keeping safe online.
In music we will be exploring the language of music through playing the glockenspiel.
In French we will be learning how to say what we can do well, how to celebrate achievements and about special occasions such as birthdays in our topic ‘On fait la fête’.
In PE our topic are gymnastics and invasion games. In gym we will be practising different balances leading to performing a sequence of partner balances. In invasion games we will be learning to send and receive a ball and the skills evasion, shooting, attacking and defending through a game.
