Autumn Term 1 learning

 

Autumn Term 1

CLL

We will be starting our Eight Rhyme Challenge.

We will be having regular short stories and rhymes to help improve our listening skills.

Through stories and the sharing of information books we will begin to answer inference and retrieval questions.

Mathematics

Number Recognition/counting

In the nursery the children will develop their knowledge of the number system and master counting by rote, touch counting and recognising numbers 

Patterns

In this unit the children will develop their understanding of repeating patters. They will be taught how to complete repeating patterns both concrete and abstract. Children will move on to creating their own repeating patterns,

Knowledge and Understanding of the world

All about me!

In this unit the children will share information about their family, learn simple body part names, explore their five senses and look at possible careers.

Self Confidence and self-awareness

The children will be encouraged to talk about the things that they are good at. They will be supported to verbally express their needs, wants, interests and opinions.

 

 

Managing Feelings and behaviour

.Children will be taught strategies to resolve conflict in play with others and when working as part of a group.

Making Relationships

Children will be provided with opportunities to become more confident when talking to other adults and children. They will initiate conversations.

Moving and Handling

Gross Motor Control- Jumping Jacks

In the nursery the children will learn how to do move in a variety of ways including jumping, slithering, scuttling and crawling. We will also be doing some stopping and starting activities.

Fine Motor Control

The children will participate in daily activities to improve their fine motor control and ensure they develop an effective pencil grip. These activities include ; threading, playdough activities, scissor control, colouring, using tweezers amongst lots of other activities

Health and self-care

Children will have a greater understanding of the need to sleep, eat and manage their basic hygiene.

 

Expressive Arts and Design

The children will learn a repertoire of new songs related to their learning’ They will also learn about holding a steady beat.

Children will be provided with stimulus and resources to explore different media e.g chalks, paints, workshop materials, atelier resources amongst other resources.

 

Technology

Children will be taught to use ICT with help to document my experiences such as taking a photograph of a visit and writing a caption or making a video to document an event.
