In the Autumn term we learnt about ....

Week beginning 16th Dec
On the last week before Christmas, the topic on legends will be coming to an end as we write our own legend. Numeracy will be looking at division with remainders.
The Christmas party for Year 5 & 6 will be on Thursday afternoon and the children will be completing their art work to take home in time for Christmas.

Week beginning 9th Dec
The children will be looking at the Legend of Bedd Gelert and creating a leaflet for the village. Numeracy will see the children multiplying 2 digit numbers by 1 and 2 digit numbers. 
To finish off the DT project, the children will finish off their musical instruments. Friday is Christmas dinner in the hall for everyone.

Week beginning 2nd Dec
In literacy, we are starting to look at legends and the features of legends. Continuing with fractions, the children will also look to find percentages of money. 
The DT project will be started this week making a musical instrument. If the children could bring any household items to build their instruments like cereal boxes, plastic bottles, etc. That would be great.

Week beginning 25th Nov
Continuing looking at fables, the children will be writing their own and looking at a reading comprehension. Fractions and problem solving will be on the agenda for numeracy this week. 
Art will have the children creating their own Roman shields.

Week beginning 18th Nov
In literacy, the children will be starting a new topic looking at traditional stories and numeracy will have the children tackling word problems. 
The children will continue their swimming at the Pods and Thursday will be the christmas art day.

Week beginning 11th Nov
To finish off the instructions unit, the children will be creating instructions of how to complete the 4x100m relay. In numeracy, we are finishing off coordinates and reading and drawing angles. This week sees the start of swimming at the Pods which will take place every wednesday for the next 5 weeks.

Week beginning 4th Nov
This week the children will be looking at using the iPods to create an instruction book, while in numeracy the children will inspect timetables and work on coordinates.
Parents evening this week and I look forward to seeing as many people as possible.

Week beginning 28th Oct
Our first week back and children will be starting the new topic of instructions looking at creating a new playground game and in numeracy will be testing their measuring skills.
The new SEAL topic sees us looking at getting on and falling out.

Week beginning 14th Oct

The children will be creating their own poems this week and will be finishing off interpreting data.
This is the final week of the half term and the children will finish off with a lovely trip to the Baths Hall friday.

Week beginning 7th Oct
The children are starting a new literacy topic this week looking at poetic style. 
Data handling is the next area in numeracy and the children will be studying different sets of data.
Harvest festival is this week and we hope to see as many of you as possible. 

Week beginning 30th Sept

Finishing off the first literacy unit, the children will be writing their own short stories. 
Numeracy has the children translating shapes and matching 3D shape nets.
On Wednesday, Key Stage 2 will have some special visitors!

Week beginning 23rd Sept

Literacy this week has the children finding out about Michael Morpurgo.
In numeracy we are looking and decimals rotating shapes.
Thursday is European Languages day and some of our children start the puppet and film project.
Week beginning 16th Sept
Literacy sees our attention turning to the setting in 'The Butterfly Lion'.
Numeracy looks at negative numbers on a scale and comparing data.
We will be continuing with our Sound topic in Science and our journey to the Roman times.
