In the Autumn term we learnt ...

Monday 16th December

This week we are counting down to Christmas! We will be reading Christmas stories and practicing writing numbers. In phonics we are continuing with our listening skills which are getting better all the time - well done everybody!

On Monday it's our Christmas Party afternoon so we are looking forward to playing party games and dancing with our friends.

Monday 9th December

We are really getting in the Christmas spirit and making calendars and making our lists to post to Santa. We will also be mixing up some magical reindeer dust to sprinkle outside on Christmas Eve. We are really looking forward to our Christmas dinner on Friday and it will be lovely to welcome the parents into our school too. 

Monday 2nd December

This week we will be exploring advent and The Christmas Story. We are also going to be making Christmas cakes ready to decorate nearer the big day. We will be exploring ice and melting through free play activities. We will be using the role play post office to practice our mark making and counting backwards and forwards to 10.

Monday 25th November
On Wednesday we are all dressing in bright clothing for our Road Safety awareness day and we have lots of fun activities to help to keep us safe near roads.

We continue our Winter theme this week  by making Winter animal pictures and glittery snowmen. We will also be making wise men and shepherds for our nativity display.

Monday 18th November

This week we are going to start our Winter themed work. We will be talking about keeping warm and creating textile collages of hats and gloves. We are also going to do some ice cube painting which will be great fun. In the water tray we are testing different objects to see if they float or sink. Our stories will be based around our Winter theme and we will read all about the Emperor penguin and find out how he keeps his egg warm.

Monday 11th November

We will be doing lots of sorting activities this week and seeing if we can touch count the spots on teddy bears. During phonics we will be making our very own shakers and talking about what sounds we can make with them. We will be also be watching and listening to, "We're going on a bear hunt"  and putting actions to the story.   

Monday 4th November

This week we will be making glittery firework pictures and making some delicious chocolate fireworks - yum! We are also going to be doing an experiment with milk and watching what amazing patterns we can create with food colouring. We are having a bonfire themed afternoon on Tuesday where we will have great fun as well as discussing fire safety with the children.   

Monday 28th October

During phonics this week we are going to revisit our sound bingo and start experimenting with sound by  making our own instruments. We have lots of new spooky songs to learn too. We are going to be making pumpkin shape faces and also creating our own Halloween mobiles. 

Monday 14th October

During phonics this week we are going to be playing sound bingo and making lots of different noises outside too! We are going to be making houses for the little pigs to keep them safe from the big bad wolf. Little owls did a great job of spotting shapes last week and this will be extended during our number sessions.

Monday 7th October

In phonics we are going to be practising our listening skills and using the instruments to help us to describe the sounds we hear. We will also be making patterns using a variety of media. During our number sessions we will continue with our counting and also looking at shapes in the environment.

Monday 30th September

This week week we are going to have a lovely time color mixing with our hands to make some Autumn leaves. We are also going to practice using our pencils to complete some tracking activities. We have a fantastic ladybird counting game which we will be playing too. As before, please send any  leaves etc into school for us to investigate. 

 Monday 23rd September

This week we will continue to settle into our new routines in nursery. This week our class shared reading story is The Three Little Pigs and the children will enjoy joining in with the story. We will also be going on a walk around the school grounds to look for signs of Autumn. Please feel free to send in leaves, conkers etc to go on our nature table.

We will be going into the hall again for Wiggle and Giggle which is a great chance to move around in different ways such as hopping, skipping, jumping, crawling and sliding.
