In the Spring term we learnt about ...

Week Beginning 31st March
The date has finally arrived and most of Tawny Owls will spend the week at Caythorpe Court on their PGL experience.

Week Beginning 24th March
In our last week in school before Easter for Tawny Owls, the children will be writing an alternative ending to 'The Wind in the Willows' and finishing off our numeracy unit by adding and subtracting decimals. This week will see the children complete their DT project on 'Cam toys'. Thursday afternoon is the class treat with the children going to the park and having a picnic.

Week beginning 17th March
This week will see a change in the timetable with Monday and Tuesday focusing on fractions in Numeracy while Wednesday and Thursday are based on Literacy with the class working on Newspapers. Thursday has the boys having a dance session mixing in with the year 6's and Tawny Owl will be organising their class treat for next week.

Week beginning 10th March
For literacy the children will be looking at the book 'The Wind in the Willows'. Numeracy will be based around area and perimeter and angles. The scholastic book fair is in school this week and the children will be able to purchase books after school until Mon 17th.

Week beginning 3rd March
Literacy will see the children looking further into stories from other cultures and numeracy will have the children working on multiplication and division as well as interpreting scales. This week is climate week with a special activity awaiting Tawny Owls on Wednesday and we will be looking at being safer on the internet.

Week beginning 24th Feb
After we have all enjoyed our week off, it is time to start our new literacy topic looking at stories from other cultures and in numeracy, concentrating on written methods of the four operations. The children will be going out of school on Wednesday to visit 20/21 and Thursday afternoon is the KS2 orienteering afternoon at Axholme Academy.

Week beginning 10th Feb
In literacy, the children will be writing up there recounts about space and the top 5 will be showcased on the school website. Numeracy will be continuing to look at handling data. This is the last week before half term and we will find out who receives a head's merit certificate...

Week beginning 3rd Feb
Children will be watching the Red Bull space diver and recounting what it must be like to be up in space. We are working on symmetrical patterns and collecting data in numeracy and our class Inspire is on Thursday afternoon.

Week beginning 27th Jan
Carrying on with recounts the children will look at different types of recounts and start to solve bracket problems in numeracy. This week is the Stardome visit on Thursday which should be very exciting kicking off the topic on Earth and Beyond.

Week beginning 20th Jan
This week will see the children turn to looking at non-fiction writing of recounts. Numeracy is looking at multiplication and the strategies to tackle harder questions. This week is also the start of our Geography topic with the title of 'Mexico'.

Week beginning 13th Jan
The children will be working on our classic/narrative poem 'The Highwayman' and problem solving looking at all 4 calculations. We will be starting our indoor PE topic of matching and mirroring and the children will have their class treat on Thursday after 'skip for life'.

Week beginning 7th Jan
Our first week back will see the children look at Classic/Narrative Poems in literacy and rounding, sequencing and adding decimals in numeracy. We will have an introduction to our new topic 'Amazing Aztecs' and our topic for SEAL is 'Going for goals'.
