Sports

At Crowle Primary Academy we are big believers in the importance of sport and are aware of the great impact it can have on children's lives. We continue to work closely with our cluster schools and The Get Ahead Sports Partnership to develop and deliver high quality sports and competition within our school.

All children receive 2 hours of PE teaching per week. In addition to this we try to encourage children to be as active as possible and achieve the minimum of 30 minutes of exercise per day. In the past we have used daily wake and shake routines, skipping and our morning run! This year we continue to complete our weekly run but we are also trying to incorporate activity into our daily English and Maths lessons. We also encourage active playtimes and lunchtimes. To support with this, we have four Sports Ambassadors from Year 6 and we also have 20 chosen Sports Leaders from Key Stage 2 who are developing their sports leadership skills. Many of these children have been sports leaders before, but for the benefit of our new leaders, they are soon to complete some training  so they can all successfully lead games at lunchtimes, supported by lunchtime supervisors and Jo. They are responsible for organising games on both of our playgrounds and for setting up the equipment they need.

Each term we aim to enter many inter school competitions and where possible also include B and C teams.  We have had much success over the years and our children always represent the academy as great sportsmen.

Our commitment and dedication to sport has seen us achieve the Sainsbury's school Games Mark gold award for the past 4 years.

ALDI - Kit for Schools

This year we saw great support for our campaign to collect as many 'kit for school' vouchers as we could. We completed 2 sticker charts and although we didn't win the £20,000 cash prize, we did receive 2 fantastic sports bags full of equipment. Thank you to everyone who sent vouchers, the equipment will be great for use at break time, PE lessons and on sports day.

Cross Country League
We are very pleased that we have been able to compete in the weekly cross country league with the other primary schools in our cluster, this year. Each week sees them travel to a different host school to compete in a race around the school grounds. This is a big commitment for our children and parents and we are so proud of their efforts.

John Leggott Sports Afternoon for Y5/6
We had a great afternoon with some students from John Leggott who came to deliver some coaching sessions on hockey and football.

Scunthorpe United Football Tournament
8 of our Y6 boys represented the academy at the football tournament. Coming third in the group stage, we went on to compete in the Shield Draw. From here we went on to win all of our matches and lifted the trophy! Fantastic effort and sportsmanship from all of the boys! Well done!

KS1 took part in the first event of the year in our new cluster. The children took part in 4 different events: dodgeball, tig-tag, boccia and kurling. Great fun was had by all!
