An enjoyable sports day was had by all on the 24th June.
We commenced with a fantastic opening ceremony with a lap of the playground waving our team flags. This was followed by warm up routine performances from KS1 and KS2. The Y6 Sports Ambassadors delivered a speech on our Sports Day Olympic values.
The children had fun competing in running races, egg and spoon races and standing jump and foam javelin competitions. Well done to all of you who took part, got into the finals and of course to the winners! A special mention to years 5 and 6 who competed in the rain - you showed great resilience!
Other activities included Taek Wando, Street Dance, Boccia, Mini-Olympics, Tai Chi, Skittles, Orienteering, Bench Ball, Tennis and Badminton. Our Olympic values of friendship, respect and excellence were upheld throughout the day and the children received certificates in recognition of their performance and attitude.
We finished the day with a presentation of certificates and a dance-off between Mr Mumby and Jake from Street Beat! I must say, it was a fantastic end to the day and cemented the 'willingness to have a go' attitude in our school.
Well done to all involved and a big thank you to our external sports coaches and to the teachers and children from the Axholme Academy who helped make our sports day such a memorable day.
We are always open to ideas and suggestions from parents and children as to how to make our sports day even better so please contact us with any comments. Thank you.
