Crowle Primary AcademyBelieve And You Can Achieve

Welcome toCrowle Primary AcademyBelieve And You Can Achieve

Sports Presentation evening

What a wonderful evening, I am very proud to be the Headteacher of Crowle Primary Academy tonight.  Erica Fawcett, our Sports Leader, organised an amazing evening celebrating sport in our academy.

Many thanks to Ben Pipes, the Captain of the 2012 British Olympic Volleyball Team, for giving such an inspirational talk and presenting the awards.

Well done to our Sports Ambassadors (Tom, Lily and Zak) who gave a presentation about the work they have done and what they have enjoyed about their role this year.

Teachers had selected children for attributes showing Friendship, Respect and Excellence in sport in each year group.

Tom Brooks, who leads the Sports Leaders program, presented the awards of Bronze, Silver and Gold to our Sports Leaders, and told us that we had achieved 16 Gold awards just in our academy, when only 6 had been given out in the rest of the authority - this shows what a great job we do promoting these leadership skills early.

Awards were given to the many agencies that work with us to make sure we offer a real range of extra curricular activities.  Dave Bell (from All Stars Taekwondo), Sophie (netball coach), Scunthorpe United Football Trust coaches and the Street Beat Dance Academy were all nominated for awards.  We thank them so much for their commitment to our academy.

We also had a category called 'cheerleading', for the many volunteers who take teams to events and cheer them on, giving up much time to do this and really ensuring our children develop a competitive streak.  Many thanks to Lynne Teanby, Rose Wood, Dorcas Haslam, Donna Young, Kirsty MacDonald, Sara Carlile and Jane Howden for their time and efforts.  Caroline was also given a mention for the great work she does in organising the paperwork, teams and volunteers.

Emma Downs, the North Axholme cluster sports leader and sports teacher at the Axholme Academy, was also commended for the hard work she puts in to organising and coaching for the many different sports.  We really appreciate everything she does and the time this takes.

And finally, we gave a huge round of applause of appreciation to Erica Fawcett, our Sports Leader.  Erica spends hours every week organising the sporting schedule, extra practice, kits, letters, the Sports Leaders and the Sports Ambassadors, to name a few things.  We have achieved Gold Mark Sports Award for a second year running, and it is all down to the huge amount of time and effort she puts into making sure our children get these opportunities and have chance to excel.  We thank you Erica and are very proud of you.
