Our topic work this term is called 'Sea and Shore'. We begin our topic with some sea creature craft, a visit to The Deep and a Punch and Judy show.
In maths we be counting to 100 and practising counting backwards from 20. We will be looking at teen numbers and how they are made up of one ten and some more and writing these as addition sentences (10+2=12). As well as further work on addition and subtraction we will be exploring time and naming and describing 2d and 3d shapes. We will be practising doubling, sharing and halving and beginning to count in 2s, 5s and 10s. We will be learning to recognise odd and even numbers.
We will be listening to a wide range of stories, writing for lots of different purposes and learning how to construct a simple sentence and a short narrative on a theme. We will be exploring vocabulary and types of words and phrases (verbs, nouns, prepositions and describing words).
Phonics (reading and writing)
We will be consolidating the children's phonics skills and helping them learn to read and spell words which have adjacent consonants, such as trap, string and milk. The children will also be introduced to the following tricky words:
In PE we will be preparing for sports day and completing a project of performance dance entitled 'Flutter and Fly'.
We will also be continuing our Growth Mindset work, completing a unit of work on road safety and exploring relationships in PSHCE.
