You Choose
This week, we have been enjoying the wonderful book You Choose by Nick Sharratt. As we explored the book together, we worked hard on noticing details in the illustrations and talking about what we could see. The children loved looking closely at the colourful pictures and discussing the choices they would make, helping them to develop their speaking, listening and thinking skills.
To make sure that everyone had an opportunity to share their ideas and opinions, we learnt some new discussion games, including 'Sticky High 5'. This encouraged all of the children to take turns, listen carefully to one another and confidently express their thoughts.
Our learning continued into provision time, where the children used the book as inspiration for their own creative projects. They enjoyed making their own unique characters and imagining exciting adventures for them. In the construction area, children designed and built their own cityscapes, thinking carefully about the places their characters might visit. In the creative area, the children used watercolours to create beautiful illustrations and drew pictures of their favourite meals, inspired by the many choices featured throughout the story.
It has been wonderful to see the children using their imaginations, developing their language skills and sharing their ideas so confidently. We are very proud of their creativity and enthusiasm!
