Zones of regulation
This week, the children have been learning about the Zones of Regulation and discussing the different feelings and emotions we experience every day. We talked about how our emotions can change throughout the day and how recognising our feelings can help us understand ourselves and others.
The children enjoyed sharing ideas about different emotions and discussing times when they might feel happy, excited, worried, frustrated, calm, or sad. Together, we explored strategies that can help us manage our feelings and make positive choices.
As part of our learning, the children used a variety of loose parts to create expressive faces. Using materials, they carefully designed faces showing different emotions and then explained how they knew what feeling their face was representing. This encouraged lots of thoughtful discussion and helped the children develop their emotional vocabulary.
